Why your link preview isn't showing on X, Discord or iMessage
Link previews come from Open Graph tags in your page's <head>. Without them, platforms show a bare URL or guess badly.
The tags you need
<meta property="og:title" content="Your App: what it does">
<meta property="og:description" content="One sentence on who it's for.">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://yoursite.com/og.png">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://yoursite.com/">
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">
Common reasons it still doesn't work
- Relative image URL.
/og.pngwon't work; use the fullhttps://address. - Wrong size or format. Use a 1200×630 PNG or JPG under about 5 MB. SVG doesn't work on most platforms.
- Tags added by JavaScript. Preview bots don't run your app's JavaScript. Single-page apps need the tags in
index.htmlitself. - Cached preview. Platforms cache previews. Adding a query string like
?v=2to the shared link usually forces a refresh.
